NetEase Shuts Down Fifth Western Studio: Bad Brain Game Studios Closure
NetEase, the Chinese-based developer and publisher, has announced the closure of Bad Brain Game Studios, marking the fifth Western studio to shut down under their umbrella. The studio, founded just two years ago, will cease operations next week.
This news comes shortly after the closure of other Western studios, including Worlds Untold, Jar of Sparks, and T-Minus Zero. The decision to focus on Chinese development has led to the shutdown of these veteran-led studios.
Former World of Warcraft designer Greg Street’s MMO Ghost, developed under NetEase, is also facing closure. Fantastic Pixel Castle, another studio under NetEase, will be shutting down later this month.
NetEase’s shift in strategy towards Chinese development has raised concerns among developers and industry experts. The company’s decision to close down Western studios has left many talented individuals seeking new employment opportunities.
