Another Studio Shuts Down Amid Publisher Fallout

Yet another studio in the video game industry is facing closure as a result of publisher issues. Bad Brain Game Studios, founded by former Ubisoft developers, including those who worked on Watch Dogs: Legion, has announced that it will be shutting down on November 17th. The studio cited difficulties in finding a new publisher for their latest title, Midnight Riders.

This news comes in the wake of NetEase Games shutting down another studio, Fantastic Pixel Castle. It seems that the fallout of the Chinese publisher’s alleged withdrawal from its international operations is continuing to impact studios across the industry.

Bad Brain Game Studios, which was helmed by ex-Ubisoft producer Sean Crooks, had only been in operation for two years before the decision to close its doors. The studio’s closure marks the fifth Western studio to shut down in recent times, highlighting the challenges faced by developers in the competitive gaming market.

It is always unfortunate to see talented developers and creative studios forced to shut down due to external factors. The video game industry is known for its rapid evolution and unpredictable nature, making it a challenging environment for even established studios.
