NetEase Shuts Down Studio of Former Watch Dogs Authors
Bad news for fans of the upcoming project Midnight Riders, as the studio founded by former authors of Watch Dogs is set to close. Bad Brain Game Studios, led by ex-Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell developers, has announced its closure after failing to release any games.
Supported by NetEase Games, the Canadian studio was formed two years ago with high hopes and ambitions. However, due to funding being pulled by the publisher, the studio was unable to continue its operations.
This marks the third studio closure by NetEase in recent months, with Bad Brain Games joining the list of companies affected by the publisher’s decisions. The studio, founded by former Ubisoft developers, had been actively seeking new partners before the announcement of its closure.
Despite the setback, the former Watch Dogs authors are not giving up on their creative endeavors. They recently released gameplay footage of their project Midnight Riders in a bid to showcase their talent and attract potential collaborators.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the talented team behind Bad Brain Game Studios, but one thing is for certain – their passion for game development will continue to drive them forward, no matter the obstacles they face.
