Yet another game studio has closed its doors, adding to the growing list of casualties in the video game industry.
The latest victim is the studio behind the popular game Watch Dogs, which announced its closure after failing to secure a new partner for their next project. This news comes less than three months after another studio, led by developers from Dragon Age and Halo, was shut down but later resurrected with a revamped mission statement.
Former World of Warcraft designer’s MMO Ghost is also no more, as the publishing giant behind it has shut down yet another studio. This trend of closures has been seen across the industry, with even big names like Funcom laying off staff after releasing a successful MMO.
It’s a tough time for game developers, as funding issues and market changes continue to plague the industry. Despite the challenges, there are still glimmers of hope as some studios are able to rise from the ashes and continue their work.
