Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Good Samaritan in Yorkshire
A man in Yorkshire has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 26 years for the murder of a Good Samaritan who was helping an injured woman. The incident took place during a wedding brawl, where the man deliberately drove into a crowd, resulting in the tragic death of the Good Samaritan.
The judge, Mr. Justice Morris, described the act as a deliberate and senseless act of violence that had life-changing consequences for many others involved. The perpetrator, Hassan Jhangur, was also found guilty of numerous other offences including grievous bodily harm and wounding with intent.
Det Ch Insp Andy Knowles from South Yorkshire Police expressed that while the sentencing may not bring complete resolution for the victims and their loved ones, he hopes it provides some form of justice for the tragic events that unfolded.
The off-duty midwife who was injured during the incident shared how the fatal crash has deeply affected every aspect of her life. The community has been left in shock and mourning over the loss of the Good Samaritan, Chris Marriott.
The sentencing of Hassan Jhangur serves as a reminder of the consequences of reckless and violent actions, and the importance of upholding justice for the victims and their families.
